HAPUTWA Holds Massive Protest at Himachal Pradesh University Over Pending Issues

1 min read

Shimla, Dec 31: The Himachal Pradesh Teacher Welfare Association (HAPUTWA) organized a massive protest outside the Vice Chancellor’s office at Himachal Pradesh University today. Teachers from various university departments, including the Evening Department, PG Centre, ICDOL, UILS, UICBS, and UIIT, participated in the demonstration.

HAPUTWA representatives demanded immediate implementation of the decisions made by the Executive Council regarding the CAS (Career Advancement Scheme) and urged the administration to initiate the process. They also requested the prompt completion of the process for acquiring 250 computers under the PMUSHA fund.

In a joint statement, HAPUTWA President Dr. Nitin Vyas and General Secretary Dr. Anjali Sharma expressed dissatisfaction with the delay in releasing the arrears for the new 2016 pay scale, which has led to frustration among teachers across the state. They also called for the withdrawal of the state government’s notification halting the PhD increment.

The association condemned the government’s recent decisions, including the cancellation of the contract period and the failure to include promotions in the legislative process, labeling these actions as anti-employee.

Dr. Vyas emphasized that the university’s teaching staff also opposes these policies, and while some of HAPUTWA’s demands have been acknowledged by the administration, they must be followed through to completion.

Around 150 teachers participated in the protest, with addresses from Dr. Harish, Dr. Yograj, Dr. Rajesh, Dr. Joginder Saklani, Dr. Naresh, and Dr. Rakesh Negi. The association warned that the protest will intensify in the coming days if their demands are not met.
