Hamirpur Suffers ₹9.04 Crore Loss in 10 Days Due to Monsoon Rains

Hamirpur, 30 June 2025: Continuous rainfall since the onset of monsoon has caused damages worth over ₹9.04 crore across Hamirpur district in the past 10 days. The highest loss has been reported by the Public Works Department (₹5.87 crore), followed by the Jal Shakti Department (₹2.92 crore), and HPSEB (₹7.04 lakh).
As per reports received at the District Emergency Operation Centre (DEOC) by Monday afternoon, losses worth ₹11.65 lakh occurred in the last 24 hours alone. A kutcha house suffered damage of around ₹70,000, four retaining walls collapsed incurring losses of ₹9 lakh, and two cowsheds were damaged with an estimated loss of ₹1.95 lakh. One animal also died due to a lightning strike.
Deputy Commissioner and DDMA Chairperson Amarjeet Singh instructed all field officials to send timely damage reports to ensure necessary aid reaches affected people. He urged residents to stay away from rivers, landslide-prone areas, and avoid outdoor movement during heavy rain. People were also advised to avoid sheltering under trees and maintain a safe distance from electric wires.
