Hamirpur Suffers ₹6.16 Crore Loss in 24 Hours Due to Heavy Rainfall
1 min readHamirpur, July 23: Continuous heavy rainfall over the past two days has caused extensive damage to public and private property across Hamirpur district. As per reports received by the District Emergency Operation Centre (DEOC) by Wednesday afternoon, the estimated loss in the last 24 hours alone is over ₹6.16 crore.
Deputy Commissioner Amarjeet Singh stated that the total loss during this monsoon season so far has exceeded ₹98.84 crore. The Water Supply Department reported the highest damage at ₹58.09 crore, followed by ₹38.40 crore for the Public Works Department, ₹74.51 lakh for the Electricity Board, and ₹23.48 lakh for the Education Department. Horticulture and Agriculture Departments reported losses of ₹18.06 lakh and ₹1.15 lakh respectively.
Additionally, 5 kutcha houses were completely destroyed, and 33 houses were partially damaged, incurring a loss of ₹26.81 lakh. The collapse of 71 retaining walls caused losses of ₹61.86 lakh, while the destruction of 47 cowsheds added another ₹23.63 lakh in damages.
The DC has directed all departmental field officers to promptly report damage from their respective areas to ensure timely aid to the affected.
