Hamirpur: A woman from Jhatwad village in the Lambloo Gram Panchayat was found to be unlawfully receiving benefits from two different pensions simultaneously. Upon discovering this, the village residents lodged a complaint with the Gram Panchayat head. Subsequently, the head notified the concerned department. The Hamirpur District Tehsil Welfare Office investigated and found the woman guilty, leading to a recovery of ₹1,20,750.
According to the information received, the woman from Jhatwad village was availing old age pension and social security pension, in addition to a pension from the Army Department. When the villagers learned about this, they informed Kartar Singh Chauhan, the head of Lambloo Gram Panchayat. The head took action on his level and found the woman guilty.
The head reported the matter to the concerned department, and the Hamirpur District Tehsil Welfare Office carried out the recovery process, collecting ₹1,20,750 from the woman’s social security pension. The district welfare department has urged people to report any similar cases of ineligible persons receiving pensions in the future. Kartar Singh Chauhan, the head of Lambloo Gram Panchayat, has instructed all ward members to gather information about pension recipients in their respective wards and bring any cases of dual pensions to the Panchayat’s notice. This is to ensure that no one misuses the benefits provided by the government.
District Welfare Officer Anil Thakur stated that the matter was addressed, and the recovery was made. He appealed to the public to not exploit government benefits by concealing facts.
