Gruesome Murder in Solan: Man Decapitated, Body Hidden in Cave, Accused Arrested

Solan, 25 January 2025: A shocking case of murder has surfaced in Solan, where a man who had gone to the forest for hunting was shot dead. In an attempt to destroy evidence, the accused decapitated the victim, hid his torso in a cave in Vasni, Sirmaur, and buried his head in Sultanpur forest, Solan. The accused, identified as Bhutto Ram and Sandeep from Solan, have been arrested based on their mobile location.

SP Solan, Gaurav Singh, confirmed the case. According to the police report, the deceased, Somdutt alias Sonu (38), a resident of Palhech village, Pachhad Tehsil, had gone to Solan to visit his brother-in-law’s house due to his wife’s prolonged illness. On January 21, Somdutt went to the nearby forest, saying he needed firewood but never returned.

After his disappearance, attempts to contact him failed as his phone was switched off. Following unsuccessful searches, the family filed a missing person report at Sadar Police Station, Solan, on January 23. Investigations, including witness statements and analysis of mobile tower locations, led the police to the accused. The case is under further investigation.
