Grand Event by Himalaya Literary Forum: Recognition for Five Women Writers by the Governor

Shimla, December 9, 2023 – Today, in the historic Shimla Gaiety Theater, the Himalaya Literary and Cultural Forum organized a literary recognition ceremony. The Governor of Himachal Pradesh, Shri Shiv Prasad Shukla, honored five women writers during the Literature Recognition Ceremony. The esteemed writers acknowledged are veteran author Dr. Nalini Vibha ‘Nazli,’ Dr. Prerana Thakre, Dr. Devkanya Thakur, Deepti Saraswat ‘Pratima,’ and Dr. Devina Akshayvar.
In the presence of the Governor, former IAS officer and author Srinivas Joshi, along with the recognized writers, shared the stage. After receiving literary awards, all the writers presented readings from their works.
This information was conveyed to the media in a press note issued today by the renowned author and President of the Himalaya Literary Forum, S. R. Harnote. Harnote expressed his pride in the recognition of these talented women and emphasized the importance of the literary festival dedicated to women’s honor. He lauded the participation of both senior and young female writers, acknowledging their contributions to Hindi literature.
Governor Shri Shiv Prasad Shukla remarked that the “Women Writers Recognition Ceremony” organized by the Himalaya Literary Forum holds significant importance in various aspects. He quoted a Sanskrit shloka that translates to, “Where women are respected, gods reside there.” The Governor expressed satisfaction that women are not only breaking traditional barriers but are also establishing themselves on par with men.
In his address, Harnote highlighted the remarkable literary achievements of Dr. Nalini Vibha ‘Nazli,’ especially her recent extensive collection of ghazals titled ‘Diwan-e-Nazli.’ He also praised Dr. Prerana Thakre for her active involvement in Hindi poetic literature for nearly 25 years and her popularity as a literary figure in Madhya Pradesh.
Dr. Devkanya Thakur, actively engaged in Hindi literature and filmmaking, was commended for her contributions. Deepti Saraswat ‘Pratima,’ known for her work in writing and teaching, was acknowledged for her published poetry and stories. Dr. Devina Akshayvar, originally residing in Mauritius, now a Hindi assistant professor in Shimla, was praised for her research in diasporic literature.
Harnote concluded by stating that the Himalaya Literary Forum has been dedicated to literature, culture, and the environment for many years, and this recognition session adds to its pride.
