Former Chief Minister and Leader of Opposition Jairam Thakur, during his visit to disaster-affected families in Balichowki on October 28, 2025, accused the state government of running away from its responsibilities. He announced that he will donate his three months’ salary to support families whose houses were completely damaged. Thakur said despite severe suffering, the government led by CM Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has failed to provide timely relief, leaving people helpless even after months of the disaster.
He further alleged that development has come to a halt, payments to contractors remain pending, and many institutions opened earlier have been shut down.
Thakur also stated that the BJP will continue to raise public issues and will not allow the government to tamper with Section 118, claiming it threatens the state’s interests.
