Govt Aims to Make Horticulture Pillar of Economic Stability’s Pillar : Jagat Singh Negi

Revenue, Horticulture, and Tribal Development Minister Jagat Singh Negi stated that the Himachal Pradesh Government is determined to transform the horticulture sector into a strong pillar of economic stability and employment generation. During his visit to the HPMC Processing Plant in Parwanoo and the Apple Market in Solan, he reviewed facilities and interacted with growers and traders.

He highlighted initiatives like setting up Farmer Enterprise Innovation Centers, enhancing Digital Agritech Services with a ₹5 crore investment, and promoting high-density plantation of tropical fruits under 48 irrigation schemes benefiting 5,000 farmer families. An expenditure of ₹100 crore is planned under the HP Shiva Project in 2025-26 to introduce new fruit varieties.

Negi expressed satisfaction over the quality production of juices, jams, pickles, and fruit wines at the HPMC Plant. He assured that the government is streamlining logistics, implementing universal carton systems, and enhancing market facilities to support apple growers during the peak season.
