Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla Pays Tribute to Atal Bihari Vajpayee

Shimla, August 16 – On the death anniversary of Bharat Ratna Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Himachal Pradesh Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla paid floral tributes at Vajpayee’s statue at the historic Ridge Ground in Shimla.

Addressing the gathering, Governor Shukla said that Atal Ji considered Himachal his second home and set high standards of political integrity in the country. Recalling Vajpayee’s firm stand during his minority government, he quoted, “If corruption is needed even to save the government, Atal Bihari Vajpayee will never do it.” He added that though his government fell, the people later brought him back to power with a huge mandate.

Highlighting his experiences in Himachal, the Governor praised the courage and resilience of the people, especially during times of disaster relief.

Speaking on higher education, Governor Shukla said, *“Whatever we did was in the best interest of universities. Now, the people of Himachal will decide.”* He also raised concerns regarding the treatment of Dr. Y.S. Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry, Nauni.

The event was attended by Deputy CM Mukesh Agnihotri, Congress President Pratibha Singh, former minister Suresh Bhardwaj, organizational secretary Siddharthan, vice-president Sanjeev Katwal, general secretary Bihari Lal Sharma, media in-charge Karn Nanda, spokesperson Mohinder Dharmani, and several party workers.
