Governor remembers Birsa Munda on occasion of ‘Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas Programme’

Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla today presided over the ‘Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas Programme’ at Bharmour in the tribal sub-division headquarters of district Chamba. The day is celeberated in the memory of Birsa Munda, an Indian tribal independence activist and a folk hero belonging to the Munda tribe of Jharkhand. The Governor also flagged off ‘Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra’ from Bharmour, which will spread awareness of the policies of the Union Government for next two months in the region.

Referring to the contribution of Birsa Munda in the freedom movement, the Governor said that at the young age of just 25, he proved his mettle to the Britisher’s and had set an example of patriotism by his heroic and courageous actions.

He said that today India’s has emerged as a powerful nation in the entire world and has proved its prowess in various fields, may it be Space, Defence, Industries, Information technology or any other sector.  Under the able leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the country is treading fast on the path of progress. Various ambitious schemes launched by the Union Government were bringing positive changes in the lives of people all over the country, he remarked.

The governor urged the public representatives to ensure that the benefits of various schemes reach all in society. He also called upon the people to be aware of the various schemes being implemented by the Central Government and also take benefits from them.

The Governor also visited departmental exhibitions set up on the occasion.

The inauguration program of the Vikas Bharat Sankalp Yatra organized under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Narendra Modi from Ulihatu village in Jharkhand, was also telecast live on the occasion.

Various cultural groups and students from educational institutions presented attractive local traditional folk cultures.

The Governor offered prayers at the famous Chaurasi temple at Bharmour

He was also accorded a warm welcome by the people.

Deputy Commissioner Apoorv Devgan also honoured the Governor by presenting him with a shawl, cap, and memento.

Additional Deputy Commissioner Naveen Tanwar presented a shawl, cap and memento to Lady Governor Janaki Shukla.
