Governor releases book on Insect Pollinators Diversity

Shimla Dec 21 : Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla released a book based on scientific research on pollinating insects titled “Insect Pollinators Diversity” at Raj Bhavan here today. The book was written by Dr. Neelam Kumari, Assistant Professor in the Department of Biosciences, Himachal Pradesh University, Shimla, Dr. Sangeeta Sharma, Scientist at Horticulture Research Centre, Mashobra, Dr. Y.S. Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry, Nauni and Dr. Nitesh Kumar and Dr. Hirendra Singh Baniyal from Himachal Pradesh University, Shimla.
They apprised the Governor that the book provides information on pollinating insects and their importance in agriculture and horticulture. They said that pollinating insects were very important in fruit production and this book would prove to be very beneficial for farmers, horticulture experts, researchers and students. He gave detailed information on the subject to the Governor.
The Governor congratulated all the writers for publishing the book with research for the orchardists and farmers. He said that the significance of research has value only when it reaches the farmers and they get benefitted from it. He hoped that they would continue such efforts in future as well
