Governor presides over Army Mela on Indian Army Day
2 min readOn the occasion of Indian Army Day, “Army Mela” was organized at Annandale, Shimla today. Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla presided over the Army Mela. He was accompanied by Lady Governor Janaki Shukla.
The Governor said that this was an important occasion when we pay homage to the indomitable spirit, unwavering commitment, and unparalleled sacrifices of the brave soldiers of the Indian Army. It is a day to honor the valiant soldiers who defend our borders with courage, dedication, and selflessness. Their sacrifices, often in the harshest of conditions, underscore the lengths they go to ensure our safety and protect the sovereignty of our nation.
He said that the challenges faced by our armed forces were immense, ranging from safeguarding our borders against external threats to aiding in disaster relief operations within the country. “It is important for us as citizens to appreciate the sacrifices made by the armed forces and understand the magnitude of their contributions”, said Sh. Shukla and added that such programs would increase respect for the army among the people and to generate more enthusiasm among the young generation to join the Indian army.
The Governor also honoured the Army personnel on the occasion.
Lt. General Manjinder Singh, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Army Training Command (ARTRAC) Shimla welcomed the Governor.
Earlier, the Governor also witnessed martial art performance of the Kalaripayattu Team of Madras Regiment, Army Dog Squad Show, display by Gatka Team and Pipe Band display on the occasion.
Later, the Governor also visited the Army Heritage Museum.
