Promotes Environmental Conservation with Tree Plantation
Shimla, August 25: Himachal Pradesh Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla, along with Lady Governor Janki Shukla, visited the Hatu Temple near Narkanda, approximately seven kilometers from Shimla. This marked the Governor’s first visit to the revered temple, where he performed prayers and was deeply impressed by the natural beauty of the area.
Upon arrival, the Governor was welcomed by the Hatu Temple Committee’s President Bhupinder Singh Kanwar, Bhandari Het Ram, and Secretary Gyan Chand Dogra, who briefed him about the temple’s history and local traditions. Governor Shukla emphasized the need to develop Hatu Temple as a significant tourist destination by improving facilities and infrastructure.
Later, the Governor participated in a tree plantation drive near the Circuit House in Narkanda. Alongside the Lady Governor, district administration officials, and employees from various departments, Governor Shukla planted saplings to promote environmental conservation.
In his message, the Governor highlighted the importance of tree plantation as a necessary step towards environmental protection and increasing the green cover. He underscored the need to preserve the forests that contribute to Devbhoomi’s identity, noting that deforestation is a major factor in climate change. Planting trees is a vital measure to counteract this loss.
