Governor gets emotional with performance of special children
2 min readGovernor Shiv Pratap Shukla visited the Institute for Children with Special Ability (Boys) Dhalli, here today and appreciated the skills shown by the children of the Institute. He lauded the cultural programme presented by these children, especially the Pahari songs.
“Each one of you is gifted in unique ways and I am confident that with the right support, guidance and opportunities, you will achieve great things in life. Remember, your potential is limitless and you can contribute meaningfully to society just as much as anyone else”, said Shri Shukla while interaction with the children.
He said that their courage, determination and unshakable spirit were truly remarkable. The work being done at this institution was extraordinary and the dedication of the teachers, caretakers and staff who work tirelessly to support and nurture these children were commendable. It was due to their dedication and commitment that these children were able to develop their skills and become confident and capable individuals. The efforts of the teachers to empower them with education, vocational training and life skills were not only helping them become independent, but also enabling them to lead a life of dignity and self-respect, said the Governor.
He said the special children impressed everyone with their performance in the Special Olympics who brought glory to the country by winning more medals than our Olympic players.
To the children, he said, “Believe in yourselves, pursue your dreams, and know that you have the strength to overcome any challenges that may come your way”. He expressed happiness that adequate facilities were being provided for special children by the Central and State governments.
Later, the Governor distributed sweets through the State Red Cross Society to all the students of the Institute and wished them a happy Diwali. The Governor is also the President of the State Red Cross Society.
Earlier, Mohan Dutt Sharma, General Secretary, Child Welfare Council detailed the welfare schemes being executed by the department for such institutions in the State. He also briefed about Mission Vatsalya, a centrally-sponsored scheme being implemented in the State and State sponsored Mukhymantri Sukhashrya Yojana.
Headmaster, Dharampal Rana detailed the activities of the school.
