Governor flags off vehicles with relief material for disaster affected areas in Mandi

Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla today flagged off two vehicles carrying relief material for the flood affected areas of Mandi district from the Raj Bhavan through the State Red Cross Society.
On the occasion, the Governor said that Himachal Pradesh has suffered a huge loss of life and property due to the natural calamity. “It is difficult to compensate for the loss of life and property, but in the form of relief, if we contribute in any way, then it will also be an important succour for the affected people”, said Shukla. He expressed satisfaction over the efforts made by the State Government, District Administration, and Police Administration in the hour of disaster. He added that the relief and rescue operations were successfully carried out by the Army, Air Force, Paramilitary forces and all other agencies engaged in the work. He said that the Ministry of Home Affairs of the Union Government is keeping an eye on this calamity in the State and is also providing immediate relief. He expressed confidence that more relief would be provided to the State after a complete assessment of the loss.
The Governor expressed satisfaction that in the hour of this calamity, every section of the society was getting cooperation and people were also coming forward in the form of contribution. He urged that everyone should come forward to contribute to the Disaster Relief Fund to help the disaster affected people. He said that he himself has given his one month salary to the relief fund. He said that assistance was also being provided through the Red Cross at the state and district level. He added that earlier on July 13, three vehicles filled with relief material were sent to Mandi and Kullu districts through the State Red Cross. He said that the National Red Cross Society has also been urged to provide more relief material and soon relief material would be made available in the affected areas through the Red Cross.
