The present state government under the able leadership of Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu is taking decisive steps to strengthen entrepreneurship and accelerate industrial growth in Himachal. Through innovative policies and focused initiatives, the government is actively empowering youth and creating a robust startup ecosystem across the state.
Himachal Pradesh has recently been recognized as a top performer in the fifth edition of the Startup Ranking conducted by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry. It reflects the state’s growing prominence in the national startup landscape. Further reinforcing this momentum, the successful organization of the Him MSME Fest-2026 has provided a strong platform for entrepreneurs, investors and industry stakeholders.
In the 2026-27 budget, the government has introduced special provisions to position Himachal Pradesh as a preferred investment destination. A key highlight is the upcoming “Him Startup Scheme,” which will offer both financial and non-financial support to startups and incubators, enabling young entrepreneurs to transform innovative ideas into sustainable enterprises.
To strengthen the rural economy, the government is launching the “One District Three Products” programme. Under this initiative, each district will identify three unique products that will receive targeted policy support. This approach is expected to promote regional specializations, boost local industries and generate employment at the grassroots level.
In the field of sericulture, the government is set to roll out the “Him Silk Mission” with a budget allocation of Rs. 2 crore. This initiative aims to expand livelihood opportunities in rural areas, with a special focus on empowering beneficiaries from Scheduled Castes and other vulnerable sections.
Further demonstrating its commitment to youth empowerment, the state government plans to provide industrial training to 10,000 youth through the Industries Department. With support from the National Skill Development Corporation and CSR initiatives, trainees will receive a monthly stipend of Rs. 2,000, helping them acquire industry-relevant skills and enhance employability.
Recognizing its unique geographical strengths, state government is also promoting green industries while encouraging investments in tourism and hospitality sectors. These efforts are aligned with sustainable development goals and are expected to open new avenues for economic growth and job creation.
Through these comprehensive and forward-looking initiatives, the present state government is not only fostering entrepreneurship but also steadily advancing towards the vision of a self-reliant and prosperous state.
