Opposition Leader Criticizes Government’s Performance

Dharamshala, December 17, 2024: Former Chief Minister and Leader of Opposition Jai Ram Thakur criticized the state government for reducing the winter session to just four days, citing its inability to face opposition on issues from the past two years. He argued that the government is avoiding accountability for its actions, including its handling of natural disasters, unfulfilled promises, and financial mismanagement.

Thakur pointed out the government’s failure to compensate disaster victims, despite promises of financial aid. He also highlighted the closure of 1,500 institutions, layoffs of 10,000 outsourced employees, and unpaid salaries to workers. Additionally, Thakur condemned the government for spending ₹25 crore on celebrations in Bilaspur while the public continues to suffer from unmet promises.

Thakur further criticized the government’s handling of taxes on electricity, water, and other services. He also responded to the Chief Minister’s proposal to hire guest teachers for vacant school positions, calling it a “mockery” of trained unemployed youth, and reminded the CM of his earlier assurances against such backdoor hiring.
