Bilaspur, Jan 06, 2026: Residents of Ghumarwin town will soon get major relief from frequent traffic congestion with the construction of a bypass road nearing completion. The ₹1.5 crore project, connecting the Ghumarwin bus stand to the old Sirkhad bridge, is being built over a stretch of about 750 metres and is expected to be completed by March.
The project has been taken up through the efforts of local MLA and Technical Education Minister Rajesh Dharmani. Once completed, the bypass will divert heavy and through traffic away from the main market area, ensuring smoother and safer movement of vehicles. Ghumarwin, located on the Kangra–Shimla National Highway, witnesses heavy daily traffic due to its administrative, commercial and educational importance.
Local residents and traders have welcomed the project, saying it will ease daily commuting, reduce congestion in market areas, and boost business activity. The minister said the long-pending demand for a bypass is now being addressed to provide lasting relief to the town.
