Gender studies seminar at Shoolini University

Belletristic, the Literary Society of Shoolini University’s Department of English, hosted a seminar on Gender Studies via the virtual mode on Friday.
The seminar, which was divided into three panel discussions, focused on Women’s Issues in India, Women and Health Rights, and Gender Inclusive Design.
The day’s six speakers were young enterprising women who articulated their views with great passion and conviction to effect change in society.
Shambhawi Vikram, PhD student at JNU, and Arushi, Founder of Ashvattha, discussed the Pinjra Tod Movement. Vandita Sharma, a National Institute of Design alumna, and Deepani Seth, a designer and illustrator spoke about women-centred design. Swarnima, Curator of Global Shapers, and Ankita Verma, Professor at Shoolini University, discussed how women’s health issues are generally ignored in a patriarchal society.

The event’s creator, Mr. Samrat Sharma, served as moderator alongside Mrs. Purnima Bali and Mrs. Sakshi Sundaram. Professor Tej Nath Dhar and Professor Manju Jaidka, senior faculty members, also took part in the discussion.
