Gas Explosion at SDM Ashwani Kumar Sharma’s Residence in Kotkhai

Shimla, December 29: In a shocking incident in Kotkhai, SDM Ashwani Kumar Sharma sustained minor injuries in an LPG cylinder explosion at his residence. He is currently undergoing treatment at the Kotkhai Hospital. The incident occurred on Friday around three in the afternoon at SDM Ashwani Kumar Sharma’s residence.
According to information from the police, Ashwani Kumar Sharma resides in a rented apartment on the upper floor of the Pratap Jasta Building in Kotkhai Bazaar. During the incident, he was alone at home. At around three o’clock, he went to the kitchen to boil water and attempted to light the gas stove. However, as soon as he ignited the lighter, a sudden blast occurred, and the entire kitchen caught fire. Subsequently, the entire floor was engulfed in flames, causing damage to windows and doors. Upon hearing the explosion, neighbors rushed to the scene, and SDM was safely evacuated.
Theog DSP Siddharth Sharma informed that SDM Ashwani Kumar Sharma suffered minor injuries in the incident. Thankfully, no casualties occurred due to the grace of God. He stated that preliminary investigations revealed a gas leakage as the cause of the accident. Throwing a wet cloth on the regulator and taking control of the gas cylinder, the neighbors managed to prevent further damage.
