Former Union Minister and Hamirpur MP Anurag Singh Thakur said that the Modi government’s Viksit Bharat – Guarantee for Employment and Livelihood Mission (Rural), known as G-RAM-G, is a transformative step towards strengthening the rural economy and achieving the Viksit Bharat 2047 vision. He said the mission goes beyond employment generation and serves as a blueprint for making rural India self-reliant by ensuring income security and boosting consumption in villages.
Thakur said the proposed legislation guarantees 125 days of wage employment annually to rural families—25 days more than MGNREGA—thereby providing stronger livelihood support. He also criticised the Congress, alleging that its use of Mahatma Gandhi’s name for employment schemes was driven by political motives rather than genuine respect, and highlighted reforms such as direct benefit transfers, geo-tagging, timely payments, and increased budgetary support implemented under the Modi government.
