Fresh snowfall in Lahaul-Spiti
2 min readShimla, Jan 24 – Lahaul-Spiti Administration made an weather advisory warning tourists and local to avoid traveling as snowfall has started at south portal of Atal Tunnel Rohtang.
Superintendent of police Lahaul-Spiti Manav Verma said that local people and tourists are advised to avoid unnecessary travel in bad weather, travel only in case of emergency.”Keeping in view the road and weather conditions in the district, and the Black Ice Phenomenon and slippery road conditions on NH -3 only Locals and Pangi bound four by four vehicles and Sumo (with chained wheel) are allowed to enter the district via ATR only till further orders.
Police Department Lahaul & Spiti will oversee the traffic management and coordinate with District Kullu Police. Due to prevailing inclement weather Locals & tourists are advised to be very cautious while traveling in the valley. In case of snowfall, they are requested to move and stay in safe places.
All Hotel and Homestay owners are also requested to advise their guests likewise. The report arriving here said that Kukemseri of Lahaul-Spiti and Kalpa of Kinnuar received light snowfall and Nahan and its nearby areas in Kinnuar district recorded light rain.
In the rest of state it was overcast and high altitude areas snowing . Minimum temperature of Keylong was minus 7.5 degrees, Kalpa minus 1.8, Manali zero, Shimla 2.6, Solan 3.2, Kufri 0.2, Dalhousie 2.3, Chamba 4.1, Hamirpur 4.3, Mandi 4.5, Bilaspur five, Kangra and Dharmshala 6.4 and Una 8.2.
Indian Meteorological Department forecast heavy Rain or Snow at isolated places over mid and high hills. Thunderstorm and lightning likely at isolated places over plains, low and mid hills.
