The new academic session of the local APG Shimla University commenced here on from Monday with three day virtual student-orientation program in which thousands students of the APG varsity introduced to the new academic activities of the varsity started from 16th August. Former Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Yoginder Verma of Himachal Pradesh Central University attended the student-orientation as a chief guest and key expert speaker and taught the students the lessons of successful life and academic in COVID-19 times. The student-orientation initiated by Prof. Dr. Ramesh Chauhan, the Vice-Chancellor of APG Shimla University, made welcome speech and wished all the students for their better studies from present academic session started from 16th August. Prof. Dr. Ramesh Chauhan said that like before, in the current academic session also, the studies of the students be better so that the students do not face any kind of problem and the students’ study should not be disturbed. Teachers of APG Shimla University give their best to conduct studies better for the goodness of the students and prepare student-oriented study materials as well, said Prof. Dr. Ramesh Chauhan during orientation. “It is our goal to make each and every student to succeed and APG Shimla University offers our students the best possible opportunities to become confident, thoughtful youths who are prepared for any future challenges”, said Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Ramesh Chauhan. The classes will go online until corona pandemic situation normalizes, VC Prof. Chauhan added. Welcoming Prof. Dr. Yoginder Verma while introducing him to the students, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Ramesh Chauhan said that Prof. Dr. Yoginder Verma furnished the post of the vice-chancellor of H.P. Central University in the past and he is an ideal motivator, a great teacher, a great scholar, a thinker, a analyst, a manager, an administrator, a researcher of high order. Prof. Dr. Yoginder Verma, while addressing all the APG varsity students and teachers in detail on the topic- education in the COVID period, said the challenges can be faced by the self-conquest of human beings, and biggest challenge and problem can be tackled on the strength of real education but for this, it is necessary to have strong will power, education as well and better skills. “Some people think that education is the way to get a degree or to get a job, then this notion will be proved wrong if that education does not lead to human development, personality development and character-building”, said Prof. Dr. Yoginder Verma. Prof Verma said that contusions of COVID-19 pandemic which the present world humanity is grappling with it especially developing nations, it is being seen as big challenge and challenging human existence, even scientists are also not able to understand the riddle of corona properly yet. Prof. Verma said that now the developing countries are still lagging behind the developed countries in dealing with their social, economic, and political and disaster problems with traditional pedagogy. He said today we need that the COVID period is certainly a human challenge, but it is also an opportunity for someone to prove himself to be a better and successful individual because challenges sometimes take test being human and those who are fully skilled, accomplished and experienced, they become capable of overcoming these challenges waged on humanity. Prof. Yoginder Verma told the students that all great persons who have faced these challenges found the illumination in the midst of life’s crisis and have achieved success. Students must learn the lesson of successful life from the life of great successful men, said Prof. Verma. He said that it is typical truth that life does not stop anywhere and everything never ends even in adverse circumstances; it is not important to know what we expect from life, but it is important to know as well what life expects from us at this time. He told the students that it is our responsibility to get the right answer to the problems given to us; this is possible only when we are proficient in every field, every subject and today such pedagogy is required. Verma said that education should be student-centered and not teacher-centered. Today’s teacher is confined to a facilitator and his job is only to finish the syllabus, give lectures, whereas the teacher has to read the student, his versatile development requirement, make the student proficient in life according to the needs of the time and motivate to achieve the great goals. In the digital age with changing circumstances and technology, it is necessary for the students to have knowledge with experience, practical and skills in work, only then education is meaningful and only then employment is available in every field and job-creation as well, said Prof. Dr. Yoginder Verma. Prof. Dr. Yoginder Verma, while motivating the students, said that winner is the one who has the skills, spiritual wisdom and disambiguation knowledge. Prof. Verma, while sharing his experience with the students, said that to seek a better future, focus on your life objectives and become a better human being and lead your society and nation towards positive development. “Students should always restrain from drug abuses and contribute their hands for the development of the society and the nation by becoming better citizens. Dean academics Dr. Sunil Thakur addressed the students that APG Shimla University set high standards and expectations for the students to achieve and behave their best. During the second student-orientation session, motivator Dr. Suneel Keshwani told the students that professional education can make successful careers. Keshwani said that there is talent, which is skill of learning, time management, problem-solving skills, analytical thinking but this is possible only through innovations, leadership and better communication skills. Dr. Suneel Keshwani told the students that twenty-first century is the century of skills of learning from which a challenge like corona pandemic can be defeated. On the third day of the orientation, expert lecture-series delivered by Dean engineering Dr. Arun Choudhary on advance computing, Chairperson of legal studies Prof. Dr. Lokesh Chandel on legal rights of the students in educational institutions in India, dean science Dr. Prem Singh on basic tools for learning science and chairperson of English department Dr. Kusha Pandit on communication skills. At the end of this orientation session, the singers of Bandish group of music band Shimla enthralled and entertained the students and teachers of the APG varsity.
