Former CM Jairam Thakur Questions Government on Various Issues

2 min read

Shimla, December 5 – Former Chief Minister and Leader of Opposition Jairam Thakur has raised a series of questions to the Chief Minister, urging him to provide clear answers without resorting to falsehoods or evasion.

Thakur questioned why the trainee doctors at Nerchowk Medical College are on strike, highlighting the delay in the stipend payments for these doctors, which have been pending for four months. He stressed the importance of the stipend for students from humble backgrounds pursuing medical education, and accused the government of neglecting their needs. He also pointed out the earlier incident where the National Board of Examinations had stopped the quota for Himachal Pradesh due to the non-payment of stipends to DNB students, resulting in the state losing 63 specialist doctors.

Thakur also criticized the deteriorating state of public services, questioning why the government is failing to maintain basic facilities and health services. He asked the Chief Minister to clarify why essential supplies like food oil, cheap rations, and other goods are unavailable at ration depots, despite promises made in the election manifesto. He further mentioned that prices of ration items are consistently rising, with no information provided on when essential goods, like food oil, will be available.

Thakur also questioned the government’s failure to address the growing illegal mining activities in the state, alleging that these activities are being carried out with the support of certain influential individuals. He demanded an explanation from the Chief Minister about why such illegal practices are allowed to continue without fear of repercussions.

In his concluding remarks, Thakur expressed that the people of Himachal Pradesh are now frustrated with the government’s mismanagement and false promises. He warned that if the situation does not improve, the public’s patience may run out, leading to further unrest.
