Kullu, August 26: The situation has not returned to normal in the Pin Parvati River of Sanj Ghati in Kullu district after the recent flooding. The Sanj-Nyuli road is closed beyond Ropa, preventing connectivity to the Shainshar and Dehruidhar panchayats. The closure of the Nyuli-Shainshar road has forced people to transport essential items like gas cylinders and fodder for livestock over a distance of 20 kilometers. They are paying Rs 500 per cylinder for transportation. Prior to this, people had resorted to carrying rations and essentials on horses and mules to their homes.
Due to the closure of the Nyuli-Shainshar road, the villages of Shainshar and Dehruidhar panchayats are facing a shortage of cooking gas. With the limited availability of firewood, people are struggling to arrange cooking gas. Many are now compelled to travel 20 kilometers to bring gas cylinders on horses and mules.
Residents of Tung village, Alam Chand Palsara, Giridhari Lal of Singh village, Ram Lal of Sinhan village, Buddha Singh of Talahara village, Mira Bai, Thakur Datt of Banahar village, Maghu Ram of Tung village, Roshan Lal of Khain village, Ajay Kumar and Vijay Kumar of Chanaidi village, expressed their concerns. They mentioned that the Nyuli-Shainshar road was closed in the second week of July due to heavy rainfall-triggered landslides. Cooking gas cylinders in people’s homes has run out. Initially, people carried ration on horses and mules to their homes. Now, they have to pay Rs 500 per cylinder for transportation. The road has not yet been repaired by the Rural Development Department. This situation is causing difficulties for farmers and traders to transport their produce to markets.
The villagers have demanded that the road be repaired promptly to provide relief. SDM Banjar Hemchand Verma stated that road repair work is ongoing in the sub-division. A joint inspection will be carried out for the Nyuli-Shainshar road.
