First ever microbiologist student unit set up at Shoolini

Shoolini University has established the first-ever student unit, “Shoolini-Microbiologists Student Unit” (SCAU) which is officially certified by the Microbiologists Society of India.

Prof. Arvind Deshmukh, the founder, and national president of the “Microbiologists Society”, who was the chief guest, focused on the current trend in microbiology. He discussed various industrial aspects of microbiology and how science can be commercialised for livelihood and bio-businesses. He also praised Shoolini University’s initiative, thanked all SMSU students, faculty, and members, and extended his best wishes for all future activities.

Chancellor Prof. P. K. Khosla shared his expertise in the fields of microbiology and biotechnology. He lauded the efforts of students who took the initiative and took on the responsibility of forming and running Himachal Pradesh’s first student organisation dedicated to microbiological sciences. He also encouraged the students to start a microbiology-related business.

Prof. Sourabh Kulshrestha, Head of School of Biotechnology, shared his insights on the topic and encouraged young students to thrive in their microbiological fields of interest. Ms. Himani Chandel, the President of SMSU, highlighted the organisation’s goals, purpose statement, and benefits of membership.

SMSU unit at Shoolini will be led by the state coordinators of The Microbiologists Society, Dr. Gaurav Saxena (Assistant Professor), and Dr. Nitika Thakur (Assistant Professor).

The event concluded with the introduction and launch of SMSU’s official logo and general interaction with the visitors, who were provided answers to their queries. The united efforts of SMSU’s executive members made the entire event feasible. This SMSU will expand microbiology activities at Shoolini University in terms of research and innovation, as well as through hosting national and international conferences, seminars, quizzes, and other events.
