Shoolini University’s Summer Patent School proved to be a transformative chapter in the realm of education and innovation for the school students attending it.
The pioneering initiative, envisioned by Vice-Chancellor Prof. Atul Khosla, empowered school students with novel ideas, helping them turn dreams into reality. Since its inception in 2021, the programme saw six successful cohorts and recently concluded its seventh, engaging over 200 students from across India.
The Summer Patent School represented a collaborative effort between Team Ideas That Matter and the Intellectual Property Rights Office. The programme provided a nurturing environment where students scrutinised endless possibilities, overcame challenges, and developed essential skills for patent filing. Designed to stimulate critical thinking, problem-solving, and data analysis, it prepared students for an innovation-driven world.
Students were mentored by industry experts, professors, and technical specialists, who helped them refine their ideas, articles, and designs, ensuring clarity over their intellectual property. The programme encouraged students to present their ideas, which were then honed through discussions and guidance.
It was a comprehensive programme that spanned two cohorts, scheduled from June 10th to 14th and June 17th to 21st, 2024. This immersive experience brought together a diverse group of young researchers on campus throughout the summer. The programme achieved a remarkable milestone of filing 55 Intellectual Properties (IPs), reflecting the collective dedication, teamwork, and commitment to innovation of the Shoolini community.
On the occasion Chancellor Prof P K Khosla said, the Summer Patent School not only imparted knowledge about intellectual property but also exposed students to new-age advancements and equipped them with essential skills for patent filing. Students received grants and secured admissions to renowned institutions like the University of Pennsylvania and the University of California San Diego.
