Fire Breaks Out in Una Regional Hospital, Patients Evacuated Safely
1 min readUna, 4 February 2025 – A fire broke out in the gynecology ward of Una Regional Hospital on Tuesday morning after an electrical panel in the gallery short-circuited, leading to sparks and small explosions. The incident caused panic among patients, attendants, and hospital staff as thick smoke filled the ward.
Around 35 mothers and their newborns were in the ward when the fire started. Acting swiftly, staff nurses and home guards evacuated all patients and shifted them to other wards. The hospital staff, with great effort, cut off the power supply and used fire extinguishers to control the fire.
Prompt Action Prevents Major Mishap
Medical Superintendent Dr. Sanjay Mankotia confirmed that the fire was caused by a short circuit. After power was cut off and the fault was repaired, the situation returned to normal, and patients were shifted back to their wards. Fortunately, no casualties were reported.
