Fairs Preserve Culture and Social Harmony: Vikramaditya Singh

Public Works and Urban Development Minister Vikramaditya Singh attended the second day of the three-day Anokhi Dali Fair at Jubbarhatti (Halti) in Shimla Rural constituency, highlighting the vital role of fairs and festivals in strengthening social bonds and preserving Himachal’s rich cultural heritage.

He assured that the historic Anokhi Dali Fair would be declared a district-level fair and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to balanced regional development. The minister announced that damaged roads in Ramnagar, Jathiyadevi, Jubbarhatti, Dhamoon, and surrounding areas would be repaired, with major **metalling work completed before summer**. He also noted that three major drinking water schemes under progress in the area would soon resolve water shortages.

Singh further revealed plans for a new satellite town near Jathiyadevi, spread over around 2,600 bighas at an estimated cost of ₹1,300 crore. He also announced ₹5 lakh for development works in Dhamoon Panchayat and emphasized fair compensation for land acquisition related to upcoming infrastructure projects.

The event was attended by local leaders, panchayat representatives, officials, and a large gathering of fair enthusiasts.
