Fairs are our cultural heritage, their preservation is necessary – Education Minister

Education Minister Rohit Thakur today participated in the district level Mahasu fair under Kotkhai sub-division.
While addressing the gathering, the Education Minister said that the fairs are the cultural heritage of our holy land Himachal and for their preservation and promotion, everyone needs to take appropriate steps so that the coming generations can become familiar with their culture.
He said that Mahasu Mela is an important festival of the region. He congratulated the people of the region for preserving their ancient culture and history.
He said that appropriate steps are being taken by the state government for the preservation of these fairs.
In this regard, the state government has declared the Mahasu fair of the region as district level. Apart from this, the fairs of Rathal and Rampuri have also been declared as district level so that these fairs can be properly protected.
The cabinet minister said that Thoda teams from the region also participated in the fair. Thoda game has a history of its own. Every possible effort will be made to preserve this game as well.
He announced to give Rs. 1 lakh to Sheela Village Thoda Dal for Thoda sports clothing.
Apart from this, demands for bus, sports hostel and some other demands have come up for which appropriate steps will be taken for their solution so that people can get the benefits.
He announced to give Rs 1 lakh to the fair committee for organizing the fair.
The Education Minister honoured all the Thoda groups by presenting them a sum of Rs. 11,000 each and a memento.
For giving cultural presentation in the same fair, the students of Government Senior Secondary School Mahasu, Government Girls Senior Secondary School Kotkhai and Government High School Bakhoul were honored with a sum of Rs. 11,000 each.
Himachali artists also gave their performances during the fair.
Before the program, the Education Minister paid obeisance at the Durga Mata Temple.
 
*Education Minister inaugurated the Shawala connecting road*
Education Minister Rohit Thakur today inaugurated the newly constructed link road to Shawala village under Gram Panchayat Mahasu.
He said that the villagers had a 2 decade old demand for a connecting road which has been fulfilled today. He congratulated the villagers for the road facility.
He said that roads are our lifelines and these roads are even more important from the gardening point of view.
He said that during the last 2 years of his tenure, historic works have been done on roads in the area. Road works are being done in the assembly constituency at a cost of about Rs 400 crore so that the people of the area can get the benefit of these roads.
He said that apart from this, various development works are in progress here so that all-round development of the area can be ensured.
