Eye Check-up Camp for Elderly Organized at Sai Temple, Dharoti (Bharthin)

Bilaspur, September 9, 2025: An eye check-up camp for senior citizens was organized at Sai Temple, Dharoti (Bharthin), under Jhanduta Assembly constituency. The camp was held by the Indian Red Cross Society, Bilaspur branch, in collaboration with the Department of Empowerment of SCs, OBCs, Minorities & Specially Abled (E-SOMSA), Government of Himachal Pradesh. The event was chaired by Bharthin Panchayat Pradhan, Kuldeep Dhiman.
The camp aimed to detect age-related eye problems like cataract in time and document cases under the State Senior Citizens Action Plan and the National Blindness Control Programme. A total of 109 individuals, including 61 senior citizens and 48 people below 60 years of age, underwent eye check-ups. Cataract was detected in 14 individuals. Dr. Sadhna from the Health Department conducted the eye examinations and provided necessary advice. Additionally, medical tests were carried out through the MP Mobile Health Service.
The camp also marked *Deaf Awareness Day*. Health educator Leela Sharma highlighted ear care, prevention from noise-related damage, and cautioned against self-medication. She also spread awareness on HIV/AIDS. In total, 130 people benefited from the camp’s health services.
The event was attended by Red Cross Bilaspur Secretary Amit Kumar, Sathya Sai Seva Samiti President Pyare Lal Janeu, health educators Deep Chand Sharma and Kamal Kant, among others.
