A three-day specialised ETABS Design Training Programme for Assistant and Junior Engineers of the Himachal Pradesh Public Works Department (HPPWD) was inaugurated on December 22, 2025, at Jaypee University of Information Technology, Waknaghat. The programme aims to enhance practical competencies in structural design and seismic safety, particularly relevant to the earthquake- and landslide-prone Himalayan region.

The programme was inaugurated by Vice Chancellor Rajendra Kumar Sharma, who underlined the need for skill-oriented academic–industry initiatives to help India emerge as a global leader in safe and resilient infrastructure. Registrar and Dean of Students Brigadier R. K. Sharma highlighted the importance of strict supervision and vigilance at all stages of civil engineering projects.

Dr. Tanmay Gupta, Programme Coordinator, emphasised the significance of updated building codes such as IS 1893:2025 and the draft IS 456, noting that responsible use of advanced software like ETABS depends on strong conceptual understanding. The training, being held from December 22 to 24, focuses on structural modelling, seismic analysis, load application, advanced design methods, and real-world case studies, reinforcing JUIT’s ongoing collaboration with HPPWD to build safer infrastructure in the Himalayan region.
