Ensure Welfare Schemes Reach Eligible Beneficiaries: Shimla DC

Shimla, Sept 11 – Deputy Commissioner Anupam Kashyap chaired the District Level Committee meeting under the 15-Point Programme, reviewing the progress of welfare schemes for minorities. He directed officials to ensure that benefits reach eligible people in a time-bound and transparent manner.
The district currently has 2,154 Anganwadi centres, including 231 in minority-dominated areas. Under the Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya scheme, 96 girls from SC, ST, minority, and EWS categories are pursuing education with residential facilities. Urdu is being taught at Sanjauli and Kaithu schools, while several students from minority communities are enrolled in engineering, pharmacy, polytechnic, and ITI institutions.
Financial assistance has also been significant, with ₹108.63 crore disbursed to 3,637 beneficiaries under the Term Loan Scheme and further allocations under education and development initiatives. Between April 2023 and July 2025, 14 development projects worth ₹65.41 lakh were completed in minority-dominated colonies across Shimla.
PM-AJAY review meeting held
In a separate meeting on the Pradhan Mantri Anusuchit Jaati Abhyuday Yojana (PM-AJAY), the DC stressed timely execution of projects for the upliftment of SC communities. Out of 39 villages across 30 panchayats included under the scheme, development plans for 32 villages have been approved, with ₹3.65 crore allocated so far. Panchayats have already utilized ₹1.68 crore, and officials were instructed to ensure swift use of the remaining funds.
