Ensure timely clearance of monetary claims of workers: SJE Minister

Terming the workers as the builders of the nation, the minister stated that at this time when the state is dealing with disaster like situation due to excessive rains, landslides and flash floods, the workers of the state will play an important role in restoring and rebuilding the nation.
This was stated by Health, Social Justice and Empowerment Minister Dr. (Col.) Dhani Ram Shandil while chairing 42nd board meeting of the HP Building and Other Construction Workers (HPBOCW) Welfare Board. He said that the government is fully committed to the welfare of the workers and will ensure they get quality infrastructure at their workplace, besides other basic amenities across the state.
The Minister directed the officials to make sure that monetary claims of the beneficiaries are cleared well-in-time and were not unnecessarily delayed or withheld. He also asked the officials to frame simple rules in order to make the process of availing benefits easy for the workers. This will also motivate workers to perform their task better.
Various agendas, including registration of MGNREGA workers under the BOCW Act-1996, adoption of hybrid method of accounting, purchase of computers, furniture etc and filling of vacant posts were also discussed. He also directed to incorporate valuable suggestions given by non-official members in the meeting.
Later, while presiding over the HP Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe Development Corporation meeting the Minister stated that the corporation is playing an important role for the betterment of these communities by implementing various schemes and programmes. He directed the officers to aware the people regarding schemes being implemented by the government so as to percolate the benefits to these communities.
