2 min read

Rampur, 4 February 2025 – The BJP Kinnaur district meeting was held at Nogli Rest House under the chairmanship of district president Yashwant Singh Manju. The meeting was attended by state media in-charge Karna Nanda and Kinnaur candidate Surat Negi.

Addressing the gathering, Nanda criticized the state Congress government, alleging financial mismanagement and economic downturn. He stated that government employees are deeply worried about their salaries, questioning whether they will receive their next paycheck. He also raised concerns about the recent 10 appointments in the Vidhan Sabha, calling for an investigation into their legitimacy.

Employees’ Concerns
Nanda highlighted the ongoing protest against the Contract Employees Service Bill and urged the government to:
– Provide full salary during study leave, especially for teachers and doctors.
– Release the pending 11% DA and Sixth Pay Commission arrears.
– Reinstate the 4-9-14 time scale benefits.
– Grant pending time-scale benefits in a phased manner.
– Implement the Career Advancement Scheme for college and university teachers as per UGC guidelines.

Job Cuts in the Name of Rationalization
Nanda also criticized the Himachal Pradesh State Electricity Board Limited (HPSEBL) for planning staff reductions under the guise of rationalization. He accused the management of hastily drafting revised norms without considering their impact on employees’ service conditions. He claimed that HPSEBL is already facing a staff shortage and that the data presented to the government is inaccurate, prepared by an inexperienced team.

The meeting was attended by Kinnaur district BJP leaders, including Kanwar Singh (Kalpa), Jeet Ram (Morang), Gyawa Palden, Deep Jyoti (Pooh), and Birbal Loktas (Sangla).
