A five-day Faculty Development Program (FDP) titled “Educators of Tomorrow” was held at Shoolini University which brought together 150 faculty members to learn and grow with modern teaching tools and ideas.
Organised under the leadership of Dr. Ashoo Khosla, Chief Learning Officer at Shoolini University, the FDP focused on key themes such as the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in classrooms, making learning more focused on outcomes, encouraging interdisciplinary thinking, and building stronger connections with the industry.
The first day of the FDP included self-learning activities to help teachers reflect on their current methods. On the second day, Somak Ghoshal from the JETRI team led sessions on how teachers can develop a better mindset and create more engaging classrooms. Faculty members shared their thoughts and experiences during these interactive sessions.
The third day was focused on how to clearly set learning goals for students.
Dean Academics Prof (Dr.) Narinder Verma and Dr. Indu Rihani guided the faculty in developing better lesson plans and objectives. Dr. Ashoo Khosla also led a session on how teachers can create exciting elective subjects that promote joy in both teaching and learning.
A major highlight of the FDP was the session titled “AI in Class”, conducted by Dr. Chandan Chowdhary, Associate Dean at Indian School of Business. He showed how AI can be used in teaching to make learning more interesting and effective. He shared a powerful thought: “AI won’t replace humans, but humans who use AI will replace those who don’t.”
The final day featured an inspiring panel discussion with industry leaders Ms. Bindu Ajit (Biocon Academy), Mr. Apoorve Aggarwal (TCS BFSI), and Mr. Rajit Sikka (TCS Academic Alliances). They talked about how colleges can better prepare students for the real world by working closely with companies, offering internships, and focusing on practical skills.
Speaking about the FDP, Dr. Ashoo Khosla said, “we wanted to help our teachers think in new ways, adopt modern tools, and become more connected to the needs of today’s students. I’m proud of how actively our faculty participated. I believe the ideas shared during this FDP will bring real change to how we teach at Shoolini.”
