Himachal Pradesh High Court Puts a Stay on Assistant Professor’s Transfer Orders at Government College Saraj

The Himachal Pradesh High Court has halted the transfer orders of an assistant professor posted at Government College Saraj. Justice Jyotsna Rewal Dua has issued a notice to the Education Secretary seeking an explanation. The petitioner’s counsel, Khayal Chand, has also filed a petition alleging humiliation against the Education Secretary for failing to comply with the court’s orders.

The petitioner claims that the Education Secretary transferred him from Government College Saraj to Government College Guler Kangra, disregarding the court’s decision that directed his posting in Shimla district for the past seven years as an assistant professor. He had submitted a representation to the department suggesting suitable transfer locations but received no response, prompting him to approach the High Court. The court directed the department to thoroughly consider his representation and pass a detailed order. Subsequently, the Education Secretary rejected his representation on July 22.

The petitioner informed the court that a vacant assistant professor position existed at Government College Sanjauli, Shimla district, which he also mentioned in his representation. However, despite the availability of this vacancy, the Education Secretary issued orders to transfer him from Mandi to Kangra.
