Dy CM Mukesh Agnihotri Pays Tributes to Indira Gandhi on National Pledge Day

Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri participated in the National Pledge Day programme held at the historic Ridge in Shimla and paid floral tributes to former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi on her death anniversary. On this occasion, he also administered the National Pledge to the people present.

Speaking to the media, Agnihotri said Indira Gandhi sacrificed her life for the unity and integrity of the country. He highlighted her role as a strong leader who fought against terrorism and took bold decisions, including significant contributions to India’s nuclear progress. He also recalled that she was honoured with the Bharat Ratna and credited her for granting full statehood status to Himachal Pradesh in 1971.

The Deputy Chief Minister also remembered Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on his birth anniversary and informed that a programme is being organised in Gujarat from November 1 to 15 in his memory, where Himachal Pradesh will present its participation on November 4. He said that representatives including the Governor, Chief Minister, and Speaker of the Assembly have been invited to the event.

Artists of the Information and Public Relations Department presented devotional and patriotic songs during the programme. Senior leaders, public representatives and officials were present and paid tributes to Indira Gandhi.
