Drug Abuse Major Challenge Today, Says ADC Jyoti Rana at Lakkar Bazar School Council Formation

Shimla, June 18, 2025 — Addressing the formation ceremony of the Student Council at Government Senior Secondary School, Lakkar Bazar, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Protocol) Jyoti Rana stressed that drug abuse has become one of the biggest societal challenges today.
As the chief guest, she congratulated the newly appointed council members and praised the increasing role of girls in all spheres. Highlighting the menace of drugs, she warned that both boys and girls are falling prey to addiction. She urged students, especially girls, to focus on education, career goals, and sports to stay away from drugs.
Rana also emphasized early goal-setting during school years and advocated for responsible use of social media, warning about cybercrime risks.
During the event, Tamanna (Class 12) was elected Head Girl, and Aditi (Class 11) as Vice Head Girl. Four houses were formed:
- Laxmi House: Captain Kalpana, Vice Captain Payal
- PT Usha House: Captain Nidhi, Vice Captain Neha
- Rani Jhansi House: Captain Nandini, Vice Captain Kavya
- Sarojini Naidu House: Captain Kritika, Vice Captain Sakshi
Committee positions included Poonam (Discipline Captain), Mannat (Sports Captain), and Archita (Culture Captain), among others.
