Dr. Rajiv Saizal launches second phase of AYUSH Ghar-Dwar programme

Shimla, June 07 – After the successful implementation of first phase of the Programme “AYUSH Ghar-Dwar”, the second phase of the Programme was launched by the Health and Family Welfare and AYUSH Minister Dr. Rajiv Saizal from Shimla today.

After taking feedback from the Ayurvedic Medical Officers of various districts, Dr. Rajiv Saizal expressed his satisfaction over the success of the first phase of AYUSH Ghar-Dwar programme. He also briefed about the contribution of AYUSH department in the prevention and control of Covid-19 pandemic. He appreciated the efforts of the Art of Living for making people adopt yoga through continuous collaboration with the AYUSH department. He said that different yoga activities would be done daily up to 21st June, 2021 and it has been envisaged to make International Yoga Day a mega event.

While interacting with the beneficiaries of AYUSH Ghar-Dwar, Dr. Saizal urged them to adopt the yoga as indispensable part of their life for better health.

He said that this programme is a unique programme and one of its kinds in the country and directed officers of the department to make it a success so that other States may follow and implement this programme for the benefit of their residents.

Dr. Rajiv Saizal said that in the second phase of the programme focus would also be on promotion of healthy lifestyle through AYUSH along with adoption of Covid appropriate behaviour in general population through Post Covid Ayush Rehabilitation Centres. AYUSH would work in collaboration with Art of Living and Yog Bharti to generate awareness among the general population on containment of Covid-19 pandemic and on measures to enhance immunity through virtual mediums. He said that for preventive, prophylactic and therapeutic use in mild and moderate cases of Coved-19 use of AYUSH-64 would be done and 20800 packs of 40 tablets each would be distributed by the department.

On this occasion, he also released ‘Kisan Nirdeshika’, a booklet for farmers to avail benefits of various government schemes and cultivation of herbal plants. He also released a booklet on the report of first phase of Charak Vatika Yojna, a medicinal plantation drive.

Speaking about the achievements of the first phase of the programme, Dr. Rajiv Saizal said that since the launch of first phase on 14th May 2021, the programme has set a milestone by bringing a ray of hope among the patients who were under home isolation. The programme has been able to provide direct benefits to more than 30000 patients of the State. The patients under home isolation were made aware of the Dos and Don’ts during Home Isolation along with yoga, breathing exercises, bhajans and interaction with doctors and instructors virtually by the doctors of the department and the volunteers of Art of Living and Yog Bharti Foundation for which 1047 WhatsApp groups were created as against the target of 1000 groups in which about 3 lakh people participated through 37000 virtual camps.

He said that the patients under home isolation were counselled and motivated regularly through the programme which led to a decrease in the stress and anxiety levels of the patients, and other associated symptoms like insomnia, mood swings, fear, excessive sweating, malaise, depression etc which led to a fast recovery.

Before this, Director AYUSH DK Rattan welcomed Health Minister and all the dignitaries of the programme and presented the progress report of the Programme AYUSH Ghar-Dwar Phase 1.

Joint Director AYUSH, Dr. Rakhee Singh described the salient features of the second phase of the programme.

Senior Ayurvedic Medical Officer Dr. Anurag Vijayvargiya also expression his views regarding importance of Ayurved and said that it is the need of the hour that this oldest therapy be re-established in the larger interest of the people.
