Dr. Rajeev Bindal: Congress Will Face Delhi-Like Fate in Himachal

2 min read

Shimla, 16 Feb 2025: Himachal Pradesh BJP President Dr. Rajeev Bindal launched a scathing attack on the state’s Congress government, stating that the Delhi Assembly election results should serve as a wake-up call. He asserted that Congress, which lost deposits on 67 seats in Delhi, will face a similar fate in Himachal due to its neglect of public welfare and misgovernance.

Dr. Bindal emphasized that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, the central government has prioritized Himachal’s development, allocating ₹1,41,619 crore in the last ten years compared to the ₹50,298 crore provided by the Congress-led government. Additionally, tax exemptions in FY 2025-26 have benefited around 6 lakh families in the state.

Historic Expansion of Railways in Himachal
Highlighting the Modi government’s commitment to Himachal, Dr. Bindal revealed that railway expansion funding increased from ₹108 crore (2009-2014) under UPA to ₹1,838 crore (2014-2024). For 2025, ₹2,696 crore has been allocated, bringing the total to ₹4,536 crore—45 times more than the UPA era.

Mafia Rule Under Congress
Dr. Bindal accused the Congress government of failing to curb mafia activities, alleging rampant illegal mining. He cited drone footage showing heavy machinery operating on the Balad River and called for similar surveillance on the Markanda River. He claimed mining mafias are exploiting Himachal’s rivers while the state government turns a blind eye.

He also accused the government of presenting misleading employment figures, pointing out discrepancies between a minister’s claim of 42,000 jobs and the CM’s figure of 13,704. Additionally, he alleged that instead of attracting new industries, existing ones are leaving the state, worsening unemployment.

Dr. Bindal concluded by stating that just as Delhi voters rejected Congress, Himachal will do the same in the next elections, rallying behind Modi’s vision for development.
