Shimla: Former Chief Minister and Leader of Opposition, Jai Ram Thakur, expressed profound grief over the demise of former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh, calling it an irreparable loss. He stated that the entire nation mourns this great loss. Rising from a small village to studying and serving at some of the world’s most prestigious institutions, Dr. Manmohan Singh left an indelible mark on the nation’s economic and political landscape.

As an economist, Dr. Singh is hailed as the architect of India’s economic liberalization in 1991, which transformed the country’s economy and placed it on the global map. Under his leadership, the nation saw an improved growth rate and emerged as a rapidly developing economy. Known for his humility and simplicity, Dr. Singh’s contributions as an economist and statesman significantly shaped India’s progress.
