Shimla, Jan 13, 2026: Shimla Deputy Commissioner Anupam Kashyap chaired the District Level Technical Committee meeting on Tuesday, where the financial assistance scale for FY 2026-27 was finalised. The meeting covered support rates under the Agriculture, Horticulture, Fisheries and Animal Husbandry departments, which will now be sent for approval to the State Level Technical Committee.

DC Kashyap said that due to climate change, farmers are increasingly facing crop losses and should adopt alternative crops, highlighting floriculture as a promising option in hill states. He noted that several farmers in the district have already adopted floriculture, improving income and reducing financial stress.

The Agriculture Department included crops such as potato, cauliflower, peas, cabbage, wheat, paddy, maize, tomato, barley, pulses, ginger and garlic for per-acre assistance rates. The Horticulture Department finalised revised rates for crops like apple, kiwi, cherry, mango, pomegranate, Japanese fruit, grapefruit and stone fruits.

AC to DC Devi Chand Thakur and other officials were present in the meeting.
