Free legal aid now available under Veer Parivar Sahayata Yojana-2025

Hamirpur, August 7:
In a significant step towards empowering soldiers, ex-servicemen, and their families with legal assistance, a district-level Legal Services Clinic has been inaugurated at the District Sainik Welfare Office, Hamirpur. The initiative is part of the Veer Parivar Sahayata Yojana-2025, launched by the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA).

The virtual inauguration was led by Chief Justice of the Himachal Pradesh High Court and Patron-in-Chief of the HP State Legal Services Authority, Justice Gurmeet Singh Sandhawalia, during a state-level event held in Shimla. Justice Vivek Singh Thakur, Executive Chairman of the HP State Legal Services Authority, along with other High Court judges, also attended.

In Hamirpur, the event was livestreamed at the Sainik Welfare Office. The local ceremony saw the presence of District & Sessions Judge and Chairman of DLSA Bhuwanesh Awasthi, Additional Sessions Judge Sachin Raghu, Chief Judicial Magistrate Surya Prakash, DLSA Secretary Kuldeep Sharma, ACJM Ravi Kumar, and Deputy Director, Sainik Welfare Department, Squadron Leader (Retd.) Manoj Rana. Panel lawyers, para-legal volunteers, and several ex-servicemen and their families also participated.

This new clinic follows the July 26 launch by Justice Suryakant, Supreme Court Judge and Executive Chairman of NALSA, during the Kargil Vijay Diwas regional conference in Srinagar. At that time, a clinic was set up at the Himachal Pradesh Ex-Servicemen Corporation premises in Hamirpur.

Now operational at the district level, this clinic will offer free legal assistance to serving and retired soldiers and their dependents. Panel lawyers and para-legal volunteers will be available regularly to provide support under this initiative.
