District Committees formed to look into relief and rehabilitation requirements

Shimla, 26 July – Revenue Minister Jagat Singh Negi will visit Jubbal, Nawar, Kotkhai, Rampur and other places of Theog constituency on Thursday and Friday in order to assess the situation following the disaster and the necessary steps required to mitigate the losses. The visit by the Minister will be undertaken as a Chairman of a committee formed by the state government with an objective to assess and take necessary steps to mitigate losses due to the recent spate of excessive rains, flash floods, landslides and cloudbursts. Education Minister Rohit Thakur will accompany Jagat Singh Negi during his visit.

Apart from the Revenue Minister, the committee constitutes of Education Minister, Public Works Minister Vikramaditya Singh, Chief Parliamentary Secretary Sunder Singh Thakur, Chief Parliamentary Secretary Sanjay Awasthi as members, and Director-cum-Special Secretary (Revenue-Disaster Management Committee) Duni Chand Rana as Member Secretary.

Additionally, the State Government has decided to constitute a District Relief and Rehabilitation Committee in each district with the objective to assess, provide relief aid, rehabilitate and take necessary actions to mitigate losses due to the recent spate of excessive rains, flash floods, landslides and cloudbursts in Himachal Pradesh.

Jagat Singh Negi has been appointed as the chairman of the three district committees, Kangra, Kinnaur and Lahaul & Spiti.

Chairman, Vidhan Sabha, Kuldeep Pathania will chair the committee constituted for Chamba district. Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri will chair the committee constituted for Una, Health Minister Dr. (Col.) Dhani Ram Shandil will chair the committee constituted for Bilaspur, Agriculture Minister Prof. Chander Kumar will chair the committee constituted for Hamirpur, Industries Minister Harshwardhan Chauhan will chair the committee constituted for Shimla, Education Minister Rohit Thakur will chair the committee constituted for Sirmaur, Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Minister Anirudh Singh will chair the committee constituted for Solan, Public Works Minister Vikramaditya Singh will chair the committee constituted for Mandi and Chief Parliamentary Secretary Sundar Singh Thakur will chair the committee constituted for Kullu.

Apart from the Chairman, the District Relief and Rehabilitation Committee will consist of all Members of Legislative Assembly from their respective districts and all district departmental heads as members.
