District AYUSH Society Formed in Shimla to Strengthen National AYUSH Mission

Shimla, 15 May 2025 — Under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Anupam Kashyap, a meeting was held today to officially form the District AYUSH Society aimed at effective implementation of the National AYUSH Mission. The Deputy Commissioner directed concerned authorities to expedite the registration process of the society.
The office of the newly formed society will be housed within the District AYUSH Office. Its core functions will include approval of construction work, procurement of medicines, and other department-related activities. It will also oversee implementation and monitoring of centrally sponsored schemes, recruitment of manpower, and development of operational policies.
Governing Body Structure:
The Deputy Commissioner will serve as Chairman, and the Additional Deputy Commissioner as Co-Chairman. Key members include officials from AYUSH, DRDA, Women and Child Development, Jal Shakti, Health, Finance, and Medicinal Plant Boards. The District Ayurvedic Officer will act as the Chief Executive Officer.
Executive Body Composition:
The District AYUSH Officer will head the Executive Body, with the senior-most Sub-Divisional AYUSH Medical Officer as Member Secretary. Representatives from health, planning, horticulture, panchayat, forest, and medicinal plant departments, as well as the Principal of the Ayurvedic College and senior-most Homeopathic Medical Officer, are designated as members.
The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner Abhishek Verma, Additional District Magistrate (Law & Order) Pankaj Sharma, and other district-level officials.
