Discussion on ecopoetry held at Shoolini University

The Belletristic Literature Society of the Faculty of Liberal Arts and Ancient Indian Wisdom, Shoolini University, organised a session on ecopoetry.
The guest speaker of the session was Dr. Elmira Bazregarzadeh from Tabriz, who delivered a talk on the topic of ecocentrism to ecopoetry. The session commenced with an opening address by Dr. Purnima Bali, who welcomed the participants to the engaging webinar. Dr. Navreet Sahi introduced Dr. Elmira, and talked about her impressive academic background.
The speaker started with a brief introduction to ecocentrism and ecopoetry. She talked about some selected poems of Mary Oliver, the American ecopoet, and elaborately explained the motive and the need of ecopoetry and ecopoets at large, stressing the need for looking at literature through an ecocritical lens all the way from Wordsworth to Oliver.
It was a very insightful and informative session of ecocritical understanding of literature and the merger of Western and Eastern philosophies in ecopoetry and ecocriticism, where she also elaborated about Taoism. The session concluded with remarks by Prof Tej Nath Dhar followed by questions and answers from Prof. Nasser Deshtpayma and Dr Ekta Singh. Dr Siddharth Dadhwal proposed the vote of thanks.
