Dharamshala: 70 delegates from world around to participate in G20 meeting

Dharamshala, Feb 22 – The G20 meeting is proposed on April 19-20 this year at Dharamsala in district Kangra. About 70 delegates from across the world, including India, will participate in the G20 Science and Technology Department meeting to be held in Dharamshala.
Presiding over the review meeting for the preparations for the G20 meeting, the Joint Secretary in the Ministry of External Affairs, L.K. Ramesh Babu (IFS) gave this information. Officers of various departments including Dr. Madhu Sinha, Deputy Commissioner, Kangra, Dr. Nipun Jindal, SP, Kangra, Dr. Khushal Sharma, Director, Board of Science and Engineering Research, Government of India participated in the meeting organized at the Deputy Commissioner’s office.
L K Ramesh Babu reviewed in detail all the preparations related to the G20 meeting with the district administration. Ale. Ramesh Babu said that it is a matter of pride for us that from December 1, 2022, India has got the responsibility of presiding over the G20 countries. He said that during this period more than 200 G20 meetings will be organized in different provinces of the country. Under this, a meeting of the Science and Engineering Research Board of the Department of Science and Technology and the G20 Working Group on Research and Innovation is proposed to be held in Dharamshala.
Joint Secretary said that India is a country full of rich cultural wealth and traditions. He said that each region here has its own special identity, traditions and customs. He said that when the representatives of the member countries reach Dharamshala, they should take a look at the symbols associated with the identity of Himachal Pradesh and Kangra district. He said that during their welcome and stay, importance should be given to the activities and traditional practices related to the local culture.
Dharamshala is a suitable place for organizing in the meeting, officials from the Ministry of External Affairs and Department of Information and Technology, Government of India praised the natural beauty of Dharamshala and described it as a suitable place for holding the meeting. He said that big events like meetings of chief secretaries, and meetings with tourism ministers of all states have been organized in Dharamshala in the past. He said that arrangements are being reviewed in Dharamshala and surrounding areas for the proposed meeting of G20. He said that Dharamshala is also a suitable place for organizing the G20 meeting.
Deputy Commissioner Kangra Dr. Nipun Jindal said that the district administration will extend full cooperation on behalf of the state government for organizing the proposed G20 meeting on April 19-20. He said that arrangements would be made here as per the guidelines given by the officials of the Ministry of External Affairs for holding the G20 meeting. He said that holding a G20 meeting in Dharamshala is a big deal for the region.
He said that many national-level programs have been organized in Dharamshala earlier also. He said that apart from hosting the G20 meeting, Dharamshala will also be successful in organizing international events. He said that Dharamshala is the best place for organizing such events in every respect. He said that Dharamshala is already on the international map from the point of view of tourism. He said that with the G20 meeting, Dharamshala will get an opportunity to organize more such events in the future.
On this occasion, Dr. Raj Kumar Sharma from the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, Dr. S.V. Prasanna, Ganga Nidhi Agarwal from G20 Secretariat Ministry of External Affairs, Ashok Kumar Sharma, Additional Deputy Commissioner Kangra Saurabh Jassal, SDM Dharamshala Shilpi Bekta, DTDO Vinay Dhiman Officers of various departments including RTO Pradeep Kumar were present.
