Shimla, January 15: The Deputy Commissioner of Shimla, Aditya Negi, inaugurated the Panchayat Community Hall in Khagana, a project worth 33 lakhs, and six Patwari Buildings in different locations under the Chaupal sub-division. However, while these development initiatives are commendable, they raise questions about environmental considerations and financial priorities.

The Panchayat Community Hall, constructed for 33 lakhs, and the six Patwari Buildings were inaugurated in a physical ceremony held in Devat, showcasing the government’s commitment to rural infrastructure development. The Deputy Commissioner acknowledged the financial support of 12 lakhs received from the Revenue Department for constructing the Patwari Buildings.

In an additional development, the Deputy Commissioner laid the foundation stone for the first Eco-Village (Eco Village) in the Shimla district through the Chaupal Development Block. The Eco-Village project, estimated at 50 lakhs over five years, aims to spend 10 lakhs annually on sustainable development initiatives.

The Deputy Commissioner also assessed the preparations for the upcoming “Government at the Village Door” program scheduled for January 17, 2024, in Bamta. While emphasizing the need for meticulous planning for the success of the event, he directed officials to ensure its smooth execution.

These initiatives showcase the administration’s dedication to rural development, but concerns linger regarding environmental impact and financial allocation. The delicate balance between progress and sustainability remains a focal point in the ongoing development discourse in Shimla.
