Devash Kumar appointed as Additional Chief Secretary for Finance, Economics, and Statistics

Shimla, October 19: The Himachal Pradesh government has assigned additional responsibilities to Chief Secretary Devash Kumar by appointing him in charge of the Finance, Economics, and Statistics Department. As a result, IAS officer Manish Garg, who was managing these departments, has been relieved from his duties. Manish Garg was currently serving as the Chief Electoral Officer.
Following Manish Garg’s role as Chief Electoral Officer, which is crucial with the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, he has been relieved from the additional responsibilities in important departments like Finance. This year, Devash Kumar took on the role of Chief Secretary for the state government, and this recent change signifies his expanded responsibilities.
IAS Devash Kumar currently holds the position of Principal Secretary for Urban Development and Town & Country Planning (TCP). The reassignment of key responsibilities, including the Finance Department, showcases the state government’s priorities and aims to streamline administrative tasks during the election season.
